This is a forum held by coffee farmers every after two years to clearly stipulate and present farmer issues to government. And this year’s issue is to employ government to pass a National Coffee Law for the Ugandan coffee subsector which is one of the key areas that will ensure that coffee produced within the country is properly regulated. This will help improve the coffee standards in the country i.e. quality especially from the grass root level.
Previously, NUCAFE held a national coffee farmers’ convention to lobby government pass a National Coffee policy which was relevant in regulating all stakeholders in the coffee value chain. The policy was later passed in December 2013 and the organization is currently sensitizing coffee farmers about the main issues in the policy that they need to adhere to and which stakeholders to contact for different services.
